Coffee Princess 🌸☕️🌸

Join Alethea for K-Dramas and Coffee!

  • Coffee Princess K-drama Roundup – January 2024
Be sure to come to my Lives to chat about these any any other K-dramas! (see most recent calendar graphic for details) 🌸☕️🌸 🌸☕️🌸 Coffee Prince – (Viki) Yeah. I can’t talk about Lee Sun Kyun. I don’t think I’ll ever not be mad that he’s gone. But watching Coffee Prince again was a way to process some of my tremendous grief at the end of 2023. This show is just so perfect. A poor tomboy girl who is constantly mistaken for a guy helps her rich playboy bff relaunch a coffee shop staffed with adorable misfits called Coffee Prince….

  • Coffee Princess K-drama Roundup – December 2023
Let’s be honest. I finished writing the second Korea book and lost track of everything. (Yes, I really did write 2 drama-like novels in 5.5 months!) But here are a few highlights! (I have so much to catch up on now…) Destined With You – (Netflix) Look. Rowoon is just beautiful, okay? I could watch 16 hour-long episodes of Rowoon stuck in traffic. This drama could have stunk and I wouldn’t have cared. But it didn’t! Rowoon and Jo Bo-ah (Tale of the Nine-Tailed, Military Prosecutor Doberman) team up in this part-office drama, part-shamanistic adventure involving past lives and love…
  • Coffee Princess K-drama Roundup – July 2023
I’ve had a tough time concentrating on ANYTHING since writing The Million-Dollar Novel. Mostly I just wanted to re-read it again and again. Which I did. About 12 times. I also managed to finish: Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 – (Amazon Prime) What’s to say? It’s a sequel to one of my favorite K-dramas of all time. It’s over the top fantasy, and it finds a way to get Lee Yeon and Lee Rang back together. SO MUCH LOVE ALL OVER THE PLACE. And there may be a third season now?? SIGN ME UP. (And tell me where to donate…
  • Coffee Princess K-drama Roundup – June 2023
(Funny—this list is where I can really see where I went off the rails in April when that novel exploded into my brain. Hopefully, I will be able to find my way back on.) **Stuff I watched until April 24th** Full House – I felt like Ha Needo from 25/21 while happily bingeing this drama, and I was all in for the first 10 episodes. But then it draaaaagged. The side characters felt super flat, as if the writer had no idea what they wanted to do with the story, so the actors had zero motivation. Even the main characters…
  • Coffee Princess K-drama Roundup – April 2023
A Gentleman’s Dignity – A fun drama about four male best friends who are now in their 40s. The actors’ chemistry is fantastic and the first 8-10 episodes are really great. But then it gets kind of drawn out until the relationships almost become tiresome. I would have rather had far more about the guys…the older generation and the younger! (Why would anyone waste my dearest Kim Woobin like that, I ask you…) Weak Hero Class 1 – A short (8 ep) drama about 3 male school friends dealing with bullying and gangs. Major violence warning, to be sure. Park…
  • Coffee Princess K-Drama Roundup – March 2023
Big – Starring the delightful Gong Yoo (my future husband). It’s the Freaky Friday concept – a quirky teen swaps bodies with an older man (Gong Yoo). The reason everyone doesn’t love this drama as much as Goblin or Coffee Prince is because the writers shot themselves in the foot. We, the watcher, 100% fall in love with “Gong Yoo acting like a teen,” but when the souls return to the correct bodies, who are we supposed to root for? Gong Yoo, or the teen? Trouble is, we kind of want neither. Wouldn’t the heroine feel the same way? Tough…
  • The Coffee Princess’s Top Thirty-eleven K-Dramas
A friend on my FB Author Page recently asked me to assemble a Top 10 list of my favorite K-Dramas. Totally my personal opinion. OMGAAAAAAAA…! I mean, I have maybe a Top 5 or 8 for sure…but past that there are about 30 equally amazing dramas. So, here’s my best shot! (Along with where you can stream them.) And this is only my Top Thirty-eleven SO FAR…while I am officially addicted to K-Dramas, I’ve only been watching them nonstop since November of 2021. I still have a lot to catch up on! Subscribe to my newsletter for a running list…
  • Lee Dong-wook’s Coffee Truck Arrives on the Set of Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938
Our coffee truck for the fabulous and amazing Lee Dong-wook (omg I love him so much) arrived on the set of Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 TODAY! Not only is my name on the banner in big, bold letters, but he SIGNED that banner. And I’m guessing my name is about eye-level. So you know he saw my name! SQUEEEEEEE!!!!!! I am officially a coffee truck delivering fan girl, y’all. My day was made before I even got out of bed this morning. And that’s just awesome! PS: I’m now officially an Affiliate for the DAEBAK subscription box service! (K-pop,…
