While in Chattanooga for Mary Robinette Kowal’s birthday bash, Ken Harrison (Mary’s esteemed father) played his saw for us. He also gave us a brief tutorial on how one plays the musical saw, and I caught it on camera.
The bonus bit at the end is for all my fellow Trekkies out there.
Yay! I’m so glad you recorded that.
PERFECT instrument for that piece!
Thanks for a wonderful post.

Thank you for sharing this video! I hope I get to meet Ken Harrison some day. He gets a really nice sound out of the saw. I hope one year he might come to play at the annual NYC Musical Saw Festival (www.MusicalSawFestival.org).
All the best,
Saw Lady
