Featuring “Blood, Sweat, and Tears” by Alethea Kontis
“Angelica gets sick so she asks her best friend Desi to write for her using her secret weapon that made all her books bestsellers: her own blood, sweat and tears. ‘Blood, Sweat, and Tears’ was amazing. It was dark, twisted and filled with so many emotions.”

Castle of Horror Anthology Volume 4: Women Running from Houses
Featuring “A Poor Man’s Roses” by Alethea Kontis

“A Poor Man’s Roses by Alethea Kontis: Probably my favorite of the book, this story blends far future sci-fi worldbuilding with the gothic “woman in peril” seamlessly. The author has a strong voice and uses an inner monologue which may not be for everybody, but it was definitely a high point for me. The conclusion is especially impressive, as advanced technology allows for some grandiose imagery which would otherwise feel forced or hand wave-y were it not for the subtle aforementioned worldbuilding.”

Castle of Horror Anthology Volume 9: YA
Featuring “Blood from Stone” by Alethea Kontis
“This tale was excellently executed. Ms. Kontis takes the real historical character who was the alleged basis for the fabled Bluebeard, Baron Gilles de Rais, and seeks to explain just what turned him into that legendary monster. The story was well-told, very evocative and frankly disturbing–how could it not be, given the subject matter?”
