Here’s something for you to pass on to local young people who might be interested — classes will be limited to around 20, so be sure to sign up fast!
I will be doing four writing workshops at the Rust Library here in Loudoun County (Leesburg), FOR TEENS ONLY!
Here is the schedule:
Wednesday January 22, 7-8pm
Session 1: What makes a story? How to wrangle your ideas, formulate your plot, and tell a story from beginning to end.
Wednesday January 29, 7-8pm
Session 2: Finish what you start! You have a great beginning, but this could go on forever. Where do you stop? And how?
Wednesday February 5, 7-8pm
Session 3: Get yourself out there! Formatting manuscripts, proper submission etiquette, and how to find the short story market that’s right for you.
Wednesday February 12, 7-8pm
Session 4: But…I’m AWESOME! Dealing with rejection. Dealing with edits and critiques. Discussing the business of publishing.
OK I’m too old BUT that sounds awesome!
I’m so excited and a little nervous…this is something I have ALWAYS wanted to do! And now I am! I just hope some–any–of the kids find it valuable. xox
I think it is wonderful that you are willing to share your knowledge of the writing/publishing world.
I want to go to these so much! I’ll have to ask my parents if they’ll let me. Out of curiosity, is this something that you sign up for all of them? Or do you sign up for each workshop separately?
Honestly, I have no idea. I think you sign up individually…the best thing to do is ask the library! xox
All right. Thanks!
