Ah, the true Brothers Grimm retelling. Love it! Yes, they love putting those odd little twisted lines in there. I think its to see if you were paying attention or maybe Gretel just turned really twisted after that. Who wouldn’t, right?
My favorite Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale is probably Rose Red and Snow White because every time I read it, I think I can still hear my granny’s voice. She died when I was seven but I remember her reading me those fairy tales.
It really should have ended at “and they lived together in utmost joy.” That is the perfect ending I you ask me! Maybe that odd little rhyme at the end is a code hidden in the book by the Grimm Brothers! LOL I have no idea at all why that’s in there!
