    Geez. Why seven years? I know that’s typical in biblical stories. But the Brothers Grimm were German. So they were likely Protestant?

    Sevens and threes have been magical numbers in fables and folklore since the beginning of time…I suspect there are many academic papers on that subject (or if there aren’t, there should be)! The only thing I know from personal experience is that odd numbers are lucky in Greek Orthodoxy. There are always odd numbers in candelabras and worry beads and boubounieres at weddings. But WHY? That I don’t know…
