Delicious Tidbits

There are so many wonderful things going on, this post is hardly big enough to fill them!

Over at the Ranting Dragon is a list of Twenty Must-Read Retold Fairy Tales. First on the list, I’m proud to say, is the Happily Ever After anthology, edited by John Klima. I have a story in that one — “Blood and Water”, my retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid,” only she’s a vampire. And there are pirates.

The Book Smugglers not only featured a guest blog post of my Inspirations and Influences, but they did a lovely review of Enchanted as well. “I fell in love with Grumble the frog and Rumboldt the young man from almost first glance. While spend time in both his and Sunday’s minds, to me Rumbold is the true hero of this book. His narrative is sweet and compelling, and I love his earnestness and (at times comic) devotion to Sunday.”

Tomorrow is the last day to enter to win a copy of Enchanted over at Making the Grade for The Fairy Tale Hop! You should probably get over there now.

This post also features a rare interview with Sunday Woodcutter herself!

Book Rat Misty has uploaded my reading of the Grimms’ fairy tale “The Foundling” onto YouTube here. “The Foundling” is the little-known tale that the character of Trix Woodcutter is based on.

It’s not a video of me, just a podcast with a lovely placeholder image of Enchanted.

Speaking of the cover of Enchanted, A Backwards Story is hosting REALLY FUN interview with the cover designer of Enchanted, Christine Kettner. Check out one of the women who creates the magic behind the magic!

Please go over, comment, and share some love. Thank you!

Exclusive ENCHANTED Excerpt at Live to Read

I’m trying something new for this book tour — utilizing the power of YouTube to bring you exclusive excerpts and deleted scenes from Enchanted!

Today, the excerpt I have performed for you is “Monday and Tuesday” — the bit from Sunday’s journal where she tells the tale of her eldest (twin) sisters.

This clip is being brought to you exclusively by Live To Read — please pop on over to Krystal’s site to find out more (and see me get all googly-eyed while reading a book)!

While you’re there, be sure to enter the Fairy Tale Giveaway Hop for a copy of The Daughter of Smoke and Bone — one of my absolute favorites.

(There’s a copy of Enchanted being given away at Making the Grade for the Fairy Tale Hop…but please go watch the YouTube excerpt first and let me know what you think!)

WRW Mega Book Signing

That’s right, folks — bright and early tomorrow morning, romance enthusiasts will be queuing up in Boonsboro, MD for the WRW MEGA BOOK SIGNING at Turn the Page Bookstore.

Sixteen authors will be signing, including yours truly!

Scheduled to attend: Robyn Carr, Elizabeth Boyle, Cathy Maxwell , Amanda Brice, Leigh Duncan, Alma Katsu, Lavinia Kent, Mindy Klasky, Alethea Kontis, Kieran Kramer, Allison Leotta, Pamela PalmerHope Ramsay, Alix Rickloff, Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb, Christine Trent

The event runs from 11:30am to 2pm.
The store opens at 10am.
There will be copies of Enchanted on hand.

All books signed at the event must be purchased at Turn the Page. There is no limit to the number purchased, but no “books from home” are allowed at the signing.

I know that Turn the Page won’t have ordered my entire backlist, so in the event that you DO happen to bring “books from home,” just please don’t bring them into the store and cause a ruckus. I’ll try to hang out a little bit afterwards and sign what I can for you.

I do need to make it back to the WRW retreat by 5pm…but I’ll do what I can!

Hope to see you there! xox

All In the Family

YALSA’s The Hub published an article about “Finding a Strong Family Connection in YA…Yes, It Can Be Done!”

So many YA books are about kids who are orphans, or who have difficult family situations. But there do exist some–a few–which concentrate on families working together to solve problems and help on adventures. (There just need to be more families like The Incredibles.)

Jessica Miller “decided to hunt around through the books I’d read recently for examples of strong families and was pleased to find some great reading choices! These are books where the parents care and are actively involved in their children’s lives and books with families made stronger throughout because of the obvious and open love between parents, children, and siblings.”

I am honored that Enchanted was named second on her list of six recent books with strong family ties. Hooray!!

I highly encourage you to read the rest of the article here.

Thank You, Thank You!

Thank you, bloggers and readers worldwide, for your interest in ENCHANTED.

Trust me, however excited you are about the book, I promise I am TEN TIMES MORE EXCITED. At least. This is my very first novel. It’s something I’ve been waiting my whole life for…and now it’s here.

ENCHANTED has already begin releasing from the HMH warehouse. The Turn the Page signing and WRW retreat is only ten days form now, and shortly after that I will be jetting (okay, bussing) off to New York to start the first leg of the book tour. (Please Chip In for gas money here — my Dad is still matching all funds.)

As the book is imminent–and I need to concentrate on my family and preparations for my Grand Journey–I am hereby placing a moratorium on all personal requests for interviews, guest blogs, ARCs, and review copies of ENCHANTED.

I will happily begin scheduling events again in Late August or September.

As always, you are more than welcome to contact my publicist for any requests you may have:
Jennifer Groves
Harcourt Books
(jennifer dot groves at hmhpub dot com)

Again, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for the incredibly amount of love and support you have shown me and my book. I couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you.

There’s a lot going on this summer — here’s too all of us enjoying the ride. See you in the bookstore! (squee!)
Much love,
~Princess Alethea
