The Turnip Princess

Fairy tale lovers by now are aware that 500 new tales collected by historian Franz Xaver von Schönwerth were discovered after being locked away in an archive in Regensburg for over 150 years.

“While sifting through Von Schönwerth’s work, Eichenseer found 500 fairytales, many of which do not appear in other European fairytale collections. For example, there is the tale of a maiden who escapes a witch by transforming herself into a pond. The witch then lies on her stomach and drinks all the water, swallowing the young girl, who uses a knife to cut her way out of the witch.”

Mostly, like you, I just want to get my hands on these tales.

For now I will sate my curiosity by reading “The Turnip Princess” a few more times and wondering how I might work it into my world.
