When you type in "Alethea" to Google search, my website is the fourth one down. The first two listings are for Baby Name sites. The fifth is for the "Kung Fu" episode I’m named after. And the third is for a chocolate store in New York state, founded by a Greek woman from Kozani.
For years, I’ve wanted to order some of these — not just for the chocolates — but for the box!
So if anyone needs birthday ideas for my party on Sunday…you can’t go wrong with dark chocolate, nuts, and toffee.

Oh, wow, that’s a classy box (and with appetizing contents, too?)
You’re named after a kungfu movie?

Sure enough! The episode aired one month after my parents were married. Jodie Foster played a little girl named Alethea, and Mom fell in love with the name.
The Greeks frowned on anyone not being named after a saint, so I was technically baptized “Eleni”, after my grandmother, just to make everybody happy.

I’d somehow always assumed it was a distortion of the Greek word for “Truth”–that’s fun to know.
In France, the baptism name isn’t the same as the first name, which allows me not to be called after a saint and catch up afterwards (I’m Aliette Marie-Sophie).

I never knew about the Kung Fu episode. I used to love that show as a kid.
